the full story
Since I have a personal brand, I was looking for someone who could identify with who I am and what I do. Reading Daniela's story, I saw that A) she loves what she does and B) her curious, adventurous spirit is one I could work well with. I spoke with several candidates, and the others felt scripted. Daniela gave the impression that our work would be a true collaboration — which it was.
I needed my vision and personality to come through in my website, but hadn't sat down to fully articulate what that sounded like, or consider what it looked like. My favorite part of this process was that I was involved on both fronts. In the workbooks, I was able to solidify my voice and my story. With the mood boards, I was able to find the warm, mysterious, cinematic look I wanted. Daniela ran with all of this to set up a beautiful site, but at the end of the day, I got to build the foundation. I believe that's why my website now feels not only polished and professional, but also mine.
Before this rebrand, my own journalism had taken a backseat to the publication I founded and edit. Now, I feel my personal brand has a renewed sense of life and professionalism. It's a website I'm happy to lead readers, editors, agents, and book publishers to. But it goes beyond that — now that I've articulated my brand purpose, I see endless possibilities for the stories and books I have yet to write.
